Lemony Garlic Shrimp with Asparagus


4 Tablespoons unsalted butter

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

4 large garlic cloves, crushed and minced

1/4 cup dry white wine

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon lemon zest

1 teaspoon fine sea salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper (optional)

1 pound asparagus, sliced into 1" pieces

1 pound fresh or frozen shrimp, patted dry

1/2 cup fresh basil, finely chopped

Heat butter in a pan over medium heat until melted and starts to brown.

Add crushed red pepper flakes and garlic, saute 1 minute and garlic is fragrant.

Add wine, stir and allow mixture to come to a simmer.

Stir in lemon juice, zest, salt and pepper, cook 2 minutes.

Add in asparagus and cook, stirring occasionally, 2 minutes.

Add shrimp to the pan and simmer until shrimp is cooked through, 5 to 7 minutes, then stir in basil.

Remove from heat and add more spices or lemon juice, as needed, then serve warm.
