Strawberry and Lavender Cookies


1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter

1 cup flour

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp dried lavender, crushed

5 large strawberries, sliced

Powdered sugar for topping

Preheat your oven to 325, then line a baking sheat with parchemnt paper.

In a mixing bowl, beat sugar with butter until smooth and creamy.

Add flour, salt and lavender, then mix into a soft, pliable dough.

Roll the dough into small teaspoon sized balls and press onto a baking sheet.

Gently pat the dough into a flat circles.

Cut tops off strawberries at a 45 degree angle down and around the leaves.

Slice strawberries into very thin slices from top to bottom.

The strawberry slices should resemble little hearts.

Place one slice of strawberry on each cookie.

Sprinkle cookies with a dash of powdered sugar.

Bake at 325 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, or until very light golden brown.

Allow cookies to cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool compleatly. Enjoy!
